Men lose their hair to cancer chemo too

In Ireland, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men after skin cancer.

One in nine men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime which equivalates to 3000 men every year.

It can affect men at any age but it is more common in men aged 30 – 50.

Prostate cancer is when normal cells in the prostate gland change and start to grow abnormally.

The Irish Cancer Society gives information, support and guidance to people concerned about cancer. It can help with information on prevention of cancer, risk factors, screening, dealing with a cancer diagnosis, treatments, counselling and support services.

If you have any concerns, visit your GP to discuss it further or phone the National Cancer Helpline number 1800 200 700.
