Products you need to clean your hair system

Your bonded hair piece, also referred to as a hair system should be removed from your scalp and cleaned every 2 to 3 weeks before refusion. This allows you to clean your own scalp and clean the hair system for a more hygienic wear.

Depending on how much adhesive bond or tape you use on your hair piece, it can be messy to clean it up.

We have put together this tried and tested steps in cleaning the base of your hair piece.

– Detangle the hair first using a wide tooth comb

– Before cleaning the base, shampoo and condition the hair first, using the comb to detangle the hair

– Turn the piece inside out, over a mannican head so that the hair is tucked away and the base is facing up.

– The lace bond release solution may not be sufficient for this job. The best product we have found on the market for this is the C22 solvent solution.

– The manufacturers say, it is a great cleaner for scalp and hair systems. It is fast acting on most tapes and soft bonds, gentle on skin and rinses off with soap and water.

– Wearing latex gloves

– Spray a good bit of the C22 solvent solution all over the base

– Leave it to work its magic, depending on how much bond you have on the base, you may need to leave it up to 30mins

– For hair systems with silicon base, do not leave the C22 solution more than 3 minutes

– Using face wipes, wipe off the adhesive residue, this may require some pressure but be careful not to let the residue get into the clean hair (don’t use cotton wool as it breaks up and can be too messy)

– Remove as much of the residue as possible, then leave the piece to hair dry or use hair dryer to blow dry the hair and also dry the base

– For your next refusion (bonding), The base will need to be fully dry to allow fresh adhesive bond or tape to stick to it
