Iina’s Alopecia Story

Iina's Alopecia Story
Around the age of 17 Iina was an exchange student in France when she noticed her hair was thinning. Because of her naturally dense hair, she was not too worried about the hair loss until she came home to Finland. Her parents, who hadn’t seen Iina in a year, were shocked by how thin her hair was getting. Iina then went through a 7 year process to finally get an Alopecia diagnosis. Since then she has found a community in the Finland Alopecia and Vitiligo Association.
Volunteer Work With the Finland Alopecia and Vitiligo Accosiaction
Iina first found the Finland Alopecia Association through a Facebook group. Since then, she has enjoyed volunteering with the association and connecting with other women. Iina participated in a mermaid training class with other bald women. Bald mermaids are certainly something you don’t see every day, but Iina finds sharing in this activity with other women affected by hairloss to be empowering and inspiring. She is excited to start volunteering with youth who have hair loss.
