HSE Wig Grant for Medical Card Holders and Patients in Active Treatment
HairWeavon is a registered HSE wig provider for medical card holders. If your hair loss is due to a medical condition or treatment (for example, cancer treatment or alopecia), you are entitled to a HSE Wig Grant.
Grant allowances vary across depending on the county you’re located in, and typically range from €440 to €770.
Our team will take care of all the necessary paperwork for you, so you don’t have to worry about the process.
IMPORTANT !
If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy or active cancer treatment, you are eligible for the full grant amount of €770, even if you do not have a medical card.
If you are not in active treatment, a valid medical card is required to qualify for the grant.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE WIG GRANT
1. Download and complete the required forms (attached below)
– your doctor should fill out sign the Allowance form
– you should fill out the POD form – simply write your name, address and sign it and we will take it from there
2. Upload the completed forms with your details
3. Allow 2 to 4 weeks for your application to be processed (this solely depends on the HSE processing time)
4. Once your wig grant is approved, we can issue you a coupon for the amount so you can order your items online through our website
5. If you need help finding the perfect piece, we can issue you store credit for the amount, which you can use in our Dublin shop during your free consultation
6. If you need a piece urgently, you could alway pay for it first, and we can reimburse you for the amount once your grant gets approved

Private health insurance
If you have private health insurance with say VHI, Bupa, Aviva, Quinn insurance, etc, we can provide you with the relevant documentation to help you claim your money back. The amount refunded can vary depending on your plan. You should check with your insurer for details.
Taxpayer with no private health insurance
If you are a taxpayer in Ireland and do not have private health insurance, you can claim for health expenses using the Med1 form which you can obtain from your local tax office or the revenue website.
