How to spot fake hair extensions
Being a hairstylist, I have come across many clients purchasing fake hair extensions. Before purchasing their hair they are told it is 100% human. LIE. I am going to explain how to tell the difference between fake and real hair extensions. First and most importantly, if you are spending under a 100 euros or dollars on hair extensions, know it is not real hair. Believe it or not, hair is an investment and you would want real human hair extensions that last, to re use over and over. There are test that can be done to make sure you are not being duped. Feel the hair, make sure it feels soft, that you can run your fingers through. If it feels hard in anyway or like plastic then it is not real. Another test is smelling the hair, if it smells like a bunch of chemicals; NOT REAL. Lastly, if you take just a strand of the hair and burn it, if it does not smell like human hair burned; FAKE.
Now, I will explain the process and different types of hair extensions. Yaki hair is hair that comes from a yak, which is a cousin of the domestic cow. It has long shaggy hair that is shaved and gathered into the weave. They strip the color, and use a dye, similar to clothing dye to achieve different vibrant colors. Synthetic hair is fiberous plastic hair that appears to be human hair. Synthetic hair usually comes already styled, because it cannot be colored, blow dried, or curled. Packaged hair, that is sold in big named hair companies across Ireland, are mixed with a blend of yaki, synthetic, and the least amount of human hair. Human hair is exactly what it is called. Donated or sold, it is cut straight from a human beings head, cleaned, treated, then sold. This hair can be kept for a long time as long as it is maintained. At HairWeavon, we believe in selling top quality human hair. Our clients have the confidence anywhere they go to flaunt our hair like if it was their own. We also do custom orders if a client prefers more hair on the weft for sew ins, or wigs.
