Pros of Hair Loss

Pros of Hair Loss - HairWeavon

If you are confused by the title of this blog post, Pros of Hair Loss you are not alone. When going through hair loss it is easy to get discouraged. Something you have identified with, something you may have even taken for granted, disappears in a dramatic way. Control is lost. Confronting your new reflection is painful and confusing. This blog post is here to give hope to those struggling with hair loss, and inspire those who are ready to move forward. Gaining a positive perspective on your own hair loss is not something you arrive at. It is a constant journey filled with twists and turns, ups and downs. Our hope at HairWeavon is that you will feel supported and encouraged no matter where you are on this journey.

Kate-Leigh and Ariel (who both work at HairWeavon) and both have experienced Alopecia Universalis at different points in their lives, got together for an Instagram live to discuss their experience with the positives of Alopecia. Some of their experiences with the pros of hair loss and alopecia are highlighted below.

Wigs

When first entering the world of wigs, it can be overwhelming. Some of us come from thinking wigs are only for halloween parties. However, once we understand that there are natural looking wigs made especially for those experiencing total or partial hair loss, a whole new world opens up. Your hair becomes an accessory. Going out on a date? Choose the right hair for the occasion. Busy day running all around town? Choose a short and simple look. You could even have pink hair for Valentine’s Day coming up!

Another benefit of wigs is you can have bleached hair without the pain or damage of going to a salon. You also save all the money and time used to maintain a specific cut and colour. Just drop your hair off for a blowout and return a few hours later to perfect hair.

If wigs still feel overwhelming to you, schedule a Zoom consultation with us. We can answer any questions you may have and help guide you to the perfect wig.

Connecting with the Community

Hair loss takes a lot away from you but it also gives you so much in return. As a bald woman you are never alone. There are women out here who know what it feels like to lose all their hair. Women will reach out to you. They will connect with you. Social media is also a wonderful place for finding a community. We can all gain strength from each other. This road is not easy and having a tribe of women to build you up is so helpful. If you feel like you haven’t found your tribe yet follow us on Instagram. We are here for you! No matter what brings you to the hair loss community (alopecia, hashimotos, stress, cancer or anything else) you are not alone!

Saving Time

After losing hair it can feel like it takes forever to look normal in the mornings. Fake lashes can be so tricky at first. However, after some practise, and maybe a little permanent makeup, you’ll find you actually save time. With wigs, styling and washing your hair becomes a once a week or less occurrence. For many of us, hair loss means no more waxing or shaving. Just think of the time saved there!

Stay Cool

If you live in a warmer climate you know the struggle in the warm months. Natural hair can get greasy and sweaty. After hours of curling and styling your hair it just frizzes up or falls flat in the humidity. Enter synthetic-open-wefted wigs. The synthetic fibers will hold their style no matter the weather and the open wefts allow a breeze to keep you cool. You can also mix up the length of your hair easily in the summer. If you don’t like long hair on your neck when you are hot, just wear a short style for the summer.

Laugh

The last and, arguably most important, pro of hair loss is laughter! You have to find things to laugh about. Let your friends try on your wigs. Who knows, maybe you will convince them to change their cut or colour! Put that wig on a baby. Let your dad try on your bright pink wig. Life is full of moments where laughter doesn’t come easy. Give yourself permission to have some fun and to laugh!

Our hope is that you have found something to shift your perspective towards the positives and pros of hair loss. We know it is not what many of us would ask for, but as we support each other we will come out of this stronger! And not only will we be stronger, but we will have fabulous hair and a tribe of strong women around us.
